Arriving from any direction, the drive to Smolyan is one of the most picturesque in Bulgaria, full of sweeping curves and gorgeous scenery.

This vibrant town will enchant you with its fascinating combination of old and modern architecture. The Rhodope mountains give this wonderful town its pulse. It's full of culture with music and dance from all over the region. We mentioned earlier the large number of festivals and this presents a significant guest opportunity.

As a district centre Smolyan has all the facilities, entertainment opportunities and attractions plus the wonderful location and climate. It’s a town in the heart of the mountain with its own university, theatre, several museums and the biggest and best Planetarium in Bulgaria. Many restaurants and cafes, modern and traditional, are offering the delights of the local cuisine to the many visitors.

Raykovo suburb, where the property is situated, has some of the best traditional stone houses from the Bulgarian National Revival period. The area offers the cosy atmosphere of rustic life without taking you too far from the city centre, a cheap 2½ mile taxi ride.

Smolyan itself is surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery and has the beautiful Cherna river winding through it.

Just a few miles away is the lift leading to the ski slopes of Pamprovo.
