This 150 year old listed 'Konak', or fortified house, has walls 5ft (1.5m) thick at the base and the status of a "Monument of Culture", Bulgaria's equivalent of a Grade I listed building, but without the UK’s complex restrictions and regulations.
The house has historical value. It was built by a family that contributed enormously to Bulgaria's development and prosperity. They were very wealthy and so it's no surprise that eventually the communist state took it from them to be used as a weekend retreat by government leaders. As such, sparing no expense, it was kept in excellent structural condition.

This huge property has nearly 4300sq.ft (400m2) of living space on three floors. There are 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, 2 of which are en-suite, and an aqua massage bath in the master bathroom. There's space for a Sauna and Jacuzzi on the ground floor and I can get you a price for those if you wish.
The lounge, kitchen and dining areas (on the third floor) runs the full length of the house. It's 50ft (15m) long and is ideal for entertaining guests.
There are plenty of original features such as wood panelling, wooden ceilings and decorated, hand carved cupboards, wonderful original fireplaces and staircases and hand crafted wrought iron light fittings on the walls and ceilings.
The house has been partially renovated both inside and out to a very high standard while preserving the spirit of the property.
Outside is a large 6000sq.ft (550m2) walled garden.
